The fourth annual Middlesbrough 10k run took place on the 21st September 2008. I was at the starting line with time to spare to do my essential warm up, which mainly involved me wishing I'd done more training, then we were away! The weather was at least on my side being nice and settled. I managed to complete the course in 51mins which, whilst not a personal best, represented something of a triumph as I was full of cold on the day!

As you can see in the photo (where I am sporting the very stylish GIN T-shirt that was kindly sent to me to wear on the day), I was quite tired come the end of the race but chuffed that I'd managed to raise some money for such a worthy cause.     Darren Conley
