Galgo Release Day - 15th September 2008

After all the bad "summer" weather it was lovely to get up to a very nice fine morning. It was good to travel with Terry and Tracey to Precious Pets in Gloucestershire for one of the two best days of the year - Release Day. We arrived just before mid-day and Martin and Carolyn arrived soon afterwards. Some of the new owners had already arrived and Steve was busy setting out the refreshment table in the Car Park. Every effort was being made to make the day as special as possible and it was certainly helped by the warm sunshine. After a lot of excited chatter and some refreshments Steve allowed me to use his office to attend to the necessary paperwork with each owner and I have to say that Steve's paperwork was impressively and very professionally presented which made my task that much easier. After Menta had left with Pamela for her long journey to Scotland we decided that Carda should come out next to allow Dawn and John to get this very nervous girl away home to West Sussex without too much fuss. The others followed one at a time at intervals of a few minutes. The kennel staff I am sure had mixed feelings because they had grown very fond of the Galgos although they were of course pleased they were coming out to start a good new life. Dortmund (now called Darcy) and Diva (now called Hetty), went to a nearby address in Gloucestershire with Vicky and coincidentally, Colonia (now called Freddie) went with Viv to live in the same street. Leon left with a very happy Alison and Ian for the good life in Dorset and the delighted look on Bev's face said it all as she left with Simba to go home to Leicestershire. Unfortunately the lady who had reserved Harlem had to back out due to circumstances beyond her control so he had to be temporarily transferred to the boarding kennels. However, no sooner did I arrive home then I took a call from Bev who asked if she could have Harlem, so a couple of days later she was back from Leicester to take him home.

I can honestly say that this 8 were in a fabulous condition as they left and this is all credit to Paula, Steve and all the staff at Precious Pets who most certainly deserve a huge thank you for the excellent care they had given throughout the six months of quarantine.
