Galgo Release Day – 18th October 2009

How on earth it had come around to another release day I had no idea but yes, Sunday 18th October was another of those very special days that only happen twice a year. Probably because it was a Sunday the journey seemed remarkably easy and certainly took less time. On arrival at Precious Pets with Terry, Helen and Geoffrey we found that Audrey and Bill had already arrived accompanied by Buddy and Kenzi all ready to pick up Timida (who is now being called Missie). Martin, Carolyn and Lynne arrived soon afterwards. As always we had a very warm welcome from Paula, Steve and their staff. Arriving a bit earlier allowed me to take over Steve’s office to add some details to the adoption forms. It is a pleasure to work from Steve’s paperwork which is so well presented.

New owners began arriving quite soon and whilst waiting for the others to arrive Steve and Paula set out the excellent refreshments which were most enjoyable.

It is always good when people come back for a second galgo and this time there were two such instances – first their was Vivien who had Peluda (now called Gracie) from the last release. Gracie came of course to help take Raika home and she looked super and clearly loves her mum, but she was also pleased to see the staff who had taken such good care of her during her time in quarantine. Raika (now to be called Raven) came out looking stunning in the sunshine with her lovely black shiny coat. She had a warm welcome from Gracie who escorted her home to Cumbria .

Anne and Peter had come along to take Marina (now being called Fern). They had been waiting for a long time and it was clear to see their delight with this young and very pretty girl. I have already had good feedback on Fern and I believe Anne and Peter will be one couple who will be back from Peterborough next time for another one.

Next out was William looking very sleek and smart with his white “bib” looking lovely against the black. I think he was much admired by everyone and he certainly looked pleased to be going home to Wiltshire with Pamela, accompanied by her daughter. William will have lots of canine company at home.

Another owner who was back for a second galgo was Carla from Berkshire who had Hamlet (now Koopa) and loved him so much felt that he deserved to have a companion. Mary-Anne seemed to be a hit with Carla’s two children who had waited very patiently for their turn.

Lynda and Kevin travelled from the Cardiff area in anticipation of going home with Bucay who they had waited so long for. Bucay (now called Pedro) is learning to live with cats and is getting on well with Lynda and Kevin’s beautiful greyhound, Alice .

Audrey and Bill, who had arrived first waited patiently until last for Timida (now Missie) who was immediately introduced to Buddy and Kenzi and all three seemed to accept each other without problems. All made their way back to Middlesex.

As always a big thank you must go to Paula and Steve, not only for the excellent care they and their staff give to the dogs, who all looked stunning, but for making release day such a memorable occasion.

I am not naming anyone in case I miss anyone out but my personal thanks to all who took photos and kindly shared them. Unfortunately we cannot include them all but I have chosen a good selection to add to this report.
