Medieval News from Wilfrid of Levriers en Difficulte, Midi-Pyrenees

On July the 14th  2009, like other years we were invited to attend the Medieval Show  « la fête du grand fauconnier » (Great Falcon Master Show).  This show is situated in the town of Cordes sur ciel, France.

The theme this year was the medieval knights.

On the night of 13th July there was a walk, by torchlight, through the medieval town.

All the greyhounds were quiet and very cool surrounded by the crowd, the music and the dancers.

On July 14th another walk took place, this time under the sun and the warm weather of the French south west. The walk started on the very old street in the town and this led up to the top of « cordes sur ciel ».

This year we were lucky to have Spanish galgos (from GIN), an Afghan (adopted in a French shelter), Russian borzois, a beautiful Azawakh, Whippets, and Podencos (from Villena, Spain).

All our dogs were very sweet, always happy to go to the hands of the children. All around us we heard « oh they are beautiful » , « what are those cool dogs » « I think they are trained to be quiet like that » and all the adoptants were very proud of their greyhounds.

During the show we have explained to the visitors the Spanish problem with the galgos and many people can’t believe it’s true.

The adoptants who had accepted to stay with us explained the very quick integration of  the dog in the family and talked to everybody proudly to show all the qualities of their galgo.

We expect that we’ll be here next year…. Perhaps with you in this marvellous medieval little town.

A great thanks to GIN from all the French adoptants saying to us that an angel was coming in their family.
