Luna, Augusto, Manchas, Chiara, Dina, and Arista on arrival in France, thanks to Jacqueline and Max

May and June transportations

We were very grateful to Josephine and her volunteers for all their help with the transport of our new galgos for quarantine. GRB volunteers flew the galgos from Barcelona to Brussels and then took them to Calais where Steve and Paula, from Precious Pets Quarantine Kennels, met them and took them on the last part of their journey to Gloucestershire.

Steve and Paula say they are all settling in well at the kennels and Pat, our Homing Officer, is busy organising visits to see them by potential adopters - she has a waiting list!

Please follow this link for more details on our new quarantine galgos.

Seventeen galgos left Albacete for homing in  Italy by GACI and in Slovenia by SASIN. The next trip, already being planned, will be in September.

Wilfrid of Levriers en Difficulte made a special journey to Vic to collect Palmira who had been rescued in Huelva. She is an elderly galga and quite nervous but Wilfrid and his group have given her a chance. Please view the video here showing Palmira’s journey from Spain to France.

Manuela of Levriers Swiss Adoptions went to Vic mid-June to collect Catalina, Lalo, Cuca, Zen, Marie, Casanova, Ursula, Aila, Gloria and Yaiza – all  originally from Mada of the RECAL refuge in Almendralejo.   They are settling in well with their new families.

Jacqueline and Max collected Augusto, Chiara – originally from Almendralejo, and Luna and Manchas – originally from Cristina of Galgos sin Fronteras in Madrid, for homing in France.

Josephine of Greyhounds Rescue Belgium flew to Alicante to collect four more galgos from Keith and Paul of Noah’s Arc, Murcia – another early start with everyone having to be at the airport by 7am !

Three galgos – Amor, Casera and Elspeth left Jane Garcia’s kennels in Cadiz with Diana Jork of Galgos in Not, Germany.  Jane is looking after 7 more galgos at the moment and whilst they are undergoing necessary veterinary checks, sterilizations etc, Diana and her group are finding homes for them.

We are  very grateful to everyone involved for making this possible, the planning and preparations for the dogs mentioned above started many weeks ago and thanks to our supporters for their kind donations and all the hard work by the refuges and adoption groups -  forty-seven galgos now have a chance of a future in loving homes.
