Galgo Release Day—15th November 2010Martin and I set off towards Gloucestershire in a mixture of sunshine and fog but we were indeed lucky and the journey was uneventful. As we arrived at Precious Pets for this very special day the sun was really shining and the first of the new adopters had already arrived. After receiving Steve’s excellently presented paperwork I started calling each adopter into the office to finalise the adoption forms, issue collars, leads and muzzles and accept the adoption donations. I enjoy this part of the proceedings as it gives me a few minutes to talk to either returning adopters or to meet newcomers for the first time. Next is the part of the day that everyone is excitedly awaiting—the actual release. There is silence while staff go into the kennel area and make their way to the gate and at last all six dogs were led out by Aurelio, followed by Casilda, Anita, Musa, Canuto and Hercules. Yes, all dogs showed some nervousness but I am convinced they do sense that something special is about to happen. One at a time they were led down the driveway to meet up with their excited new owners. It is a job to know whether to laugh, cry, click a camera or just stand in silence watching the magic that is happening before your very eyes. After 6 months of being confined, these dogs have emerged into the outside world for the start of their new life. All six looked absolutely fabulous with coats gleaming in the winter sunshine. Once again Precious Pets had given their all to make sure that the dogs were fit, and looking their best. Many thanks to all who played a part in this. Pat – November 2010
